"Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Advocate KV Aravind as Karnataka High Court Judge"
The Supreme Court Collegium has recently put forth the recommendation to appoint advocate Kurubarahalli Venkataramareddy Aravind as a judge for the esteemed Karnataka High Court. This recommendation comes after the High Court Collegium had already suggested Aravind's candidacy in August of the previous year.
The Collegium's decision was based on Aravind's impressive legal career of nearly twenty-three years, during which he has been involved in numerous cases resulting in 567 reported judgments. After initially deferring the decision in January, the Collegium found Aravind to be highly qualified and suitable for the esteemed position.
In accordance with the Memorandum of Procedure, judges from the Supreme Court, who possess a deep understanding of the Karnataka High Court's affairs, were consulted during the process. Additionally, the Department of Justice provided inputs to assess the candidate's merit, revealing no adverse findings concerning his integrity or character.
Significantly, the resolution emphasized Aravind's expertise in taxation law, highlighting the necessity for the Karnataka High Court to have specialized judges proficient in this domain due to the proliferation of tax-related cases. Tax law intersects with various other branches of law, such as commercial, corporate, and personal law. Considering these crucial aspects and evaluating the proposal for Aravind's elevation, the Collegium firmly believes that he is exceptionally qualified and suitable to serve as a Judge of the Karnataka High Court.
