The uncle of a rape survivor has approached the Supreme Court, seeking the cancellation of bail granted to the son of a sitting Congress MLA in a rape case. The accused, Johari Lal's son, was granted bail by the Rajasthan High Court on April 6, along with another accused, in connection with the gang-rape of a 15-year-old girl. The minor had named the accused in her statement and said she had been threatened against revealing the incident since they had taken photos and videos at the time and would make those viral. The petitioner has alleged that the High Court ignored the nature of the offence and the possibility of the accused absconding, tampering with evidence, and influencing witnesses during the trial. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the accused and the state, seeking their response to the plea.
