A 50-year-old Hanuman temple in North East Delhi has been saved from removal after the Delhi High Court issued a stay on the Public Works Department's notice claiming that it was built on government land. Justice Tushar Rao Gedela also called for a status report from the local police station on any disruptions caused by the structure to traffic movement. The petitioner, whose grandfather built the temple in the 1940s, argued that the area surrounding the structure was not urbanised and that the temple has been under their family's care for over 60 years. The authorities held a meeting to discuss the temple's relocation on the grounds of obstructing traffic movement, but the talks for an alternative plot seem to have met a roadblock. The next hearing on the matter is scheduled to take place in the near future.
