"Advocates Shailesh Madiyal and Kanu Agrawal have been designated as Additional Advocate General (AAG) for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), tasked with representing the region in legal proceedings before the Supreme Court.
Both Madiyal and Agrawal hold the distinguished title of advocates-on-record (AoR) at the Supreme Court, denoting their ability to directly represent clients in the court.
Madiyal's legal education journey led him to graduation from Bangalore University, setting the foundation for his accomplished legal career.
Agrawal, a protégé of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, earned his law degree from the National Law Institute University, Bhopal in 2014. His early career saw him as a judicial clerk under the mentorship of retired Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre, while also gaining invaluable experience in the chambers of esteemed advocates Sandeep Das (AoR) and Vipin Tyagi.
Notably, Agrawal's exceptional skills were recognized in the 2021 AoR examination, where he secured an impressive second rank.
In the preceding year, the administrative body of J&K had entrusted the responsibilities of Standing Counsel to advocate Rushab Aggarwal, along with appointing Shailesh Madiyal as Advocate-on-Record, both pivotal roles in advocating for J&K's interests before the highest court of the land."
