Mridul Kumar Kalita appointed as Additional Judge of Gauhati High Court by Central Government

Mridul Kumar Kalita's appointment as an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court comes as a much-needed addition to the court's functioning, which is currently facing a shortage of judges. As of March 1, the High Court is functioning with only 22 judges, which is considerably less than its sanctioned strength of 30 judges, leaving a total of 8 vacancies.

The appointment of Mridul Kumar Kalita is expected to contribute to the timely disposal of cases and the smooth functioning of the court. With his vast experience as a judicial officer, he is expected to bring valuable insights and expertise to the Gauhati High Court. This appointment is seen as a step towards strengthening the judiciary in the region and addressing the backlog of pending cases in the court.
