Mridul Kumar Kalita's appointment as an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court comes as a much-needed addition to the court's functioning, which is currently facing a shortage of judges. The appointment of Mridul Kumar Kalita is expected to contribute to the timely disposal of cases and the smooth functioning of the court. With his vast experience as a judicial officer, he is expected to bring valuable insights and expertise to the Gauhati High Court. This appointment is seen as a step towards strengthening the judiciary in the region and addressing the backlog of pending cases in the court.
