Chief Justice RV Malimath Launches 'Boond' Initiative for Underprivileged Upliftment in the State

In a noteworthy step towards social welfare, the judges serving in the Madhya Pradesh High Court have collectively pledged to contribute a minimum of ₹5,000 from their monthly salaries to aid those in need. The initiative, named 'Boond', was inaugurated by Chief Justice RV Malimath and aims to uplift the underprivileged segments of Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Justice Malimath highlighted that the entire roster of sitting judges, numbering 33, have unanimously committed to this philanthropic effort. This joint endeavor is projected to amass a substantial amount of at least ₹1,65,000 per month and approximately ₹19,80,000 annually. Importantly, every rupee gathered through this initiative will be directed towards supporting the most marginalized citizens across the state.

The earmarked funds are intended to be utilized strategically to address immediate needs. These encompass the acquisition and distribution of fundamental essentials such as sustenance, water, clothing, and assistance in times of emergencies. The announcement was made during the flag hoisting ceremony held at the High Court premises on the occasion of Independence Day.

Justice Malimath elaborated on the rationale behind the 'Boond' initiative, emphasizing that the judiciary's responsibility extends beyond the judicial realm. He expressed the view that the judicial system has historically extended support during natural calamities and other crises. However, this collective effort signifies a more consistent and systemic approach to giving back to society.

Describing the significance behind the name 'Boond', he illustrated the impact of individual contributions, no matter how small, on the greater good. This metaphor reflects the idea that even a humble drop can make a meaningful difference in the larger context, much like a single contribution can create a substantial positive impact.

Chief Justice Malimath underscored that external donations will not be entertained, underscoring that the 'Boond' initiative solely relies on contributions from the Chief Justice and the judges serving within the Madhya Pradesh High Court. This localized approach aims to ensure transparency and integrity in the noble pursuit of aiding the less fortunate."
