Kerala High Court's Strong Rebuke:

The Kerala High Court has strongly condemned the State and Police authorities for their failure to protect a young female doctor who was brutally stabbed to death by an injured man brought to the government hospital for treatment. The incident occurred early in the morning, and the victim, a 23-year-old house surgeon, was allegedly stabbed multiple times by the attacker, who was in police custody.

In response to the horrific incident, the High Court held an urgent special sitting, during which it criticized the police for their lack of vigilance and failure to protect the doctor. The Division Bench, consisting of Justice Devan Ramachandran and Justice Kauser Edappagath, stated that if doctors cannot be protected, then all hospitals should be shut down. The Court also noted that the police should have taken steps to anticipate and prevent such an attack, particularly given the perpetrator's abnormal behavior when he was apprehended.

The Court had previously issued directions to ensure the safety of doctors and hospital staff from public attacks, and the latest incident highlights the urgent need for better security measures in hospitals. The tragic loss of a young doctor has sparked widespread outrage and calls for action to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

The Kerala High Court has demanded a protocol for presenting accused individuals before doctors, following the murder of a 23-year-old house surgeon in a government hospital. The victim was allegedly stabbed multiple times by a school teacher who had been brought to the hospital for treatment while in police custody. The Court criticized the police for failing to protect the young doctor and asked why protocols for presenting accused individuals before magistrates were not followed when presenting them before doctors. The Court also expressed its condolences to the victim's family and friends and demanded CCTV footage be preserved. The incident has shocked the medical community and prompted doctors to go on strike. The Court has asked the government for suggestions on how to prevent attacks on medical personnel.
