Kerala High Court Constitutes Grievance Redressal Committee for Advocates, Headed by Chief Justice SV Bhatti
In response to a recent directive from the Supreme Court, the Kerala High Court has established a Grievance Redressal Committee to address the concerns of advocates. Chaired by Chief Justice SV Bhatti, the committee comprises Justice A Muhamed Mustaque, Justice Somarajan P, the Advocate General of Kerala, the Chairman of the Bar Council of Kerala, and the President of the High Court Bar Association.
The committee, as per the notice issued by the Registrar General, will specifically investigate legitimate grievances related to the misconduct of any lower judicial member, ensuring that the grievances are authentic and do not unduly pressure judicial officers.
This move comes after the Supreme Court's order, prompted by an application from the Bar Council of India, which emphasized the need for committees to tackle frequent strikes, boycotts, and genuine grievances of lawyers. The order reiterated the prohibition of strikes and emphasized the importance of advocating genuine grievances through appropriate channels to prevent disruptions in court proceedings.
