Karkardooma Court in Delhi has announced its decision to conduct daily hearings for the North-east Delhi riots conspiracy case starting September 11. The court session will focus on discussions regarding the framing of charges.
Judge Amitabh Rawat, overseeing the proceedings, has directed all the accused individuals to be physically present during the upcoming hearings.
On September 11, Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad will initiate his arguments, followed by submissions from the defense counsel after his conclusion.
The court emphasized, "Compliance under Section 207 CrPC for all the accused named in the charge sheet is complete. Therefore, the matter is listed for charge-related arguments, commencing on 11.09.2023, and will be heard on a daily basis."
Additionally, the court issued instructions, stating, "All accused must be physically present for the forthcoming hearings. The relevant Investigating Officer (IO) is required to attend the next hearing. A copy of this order shall be shared with the respective Jail Superintendent for necessary awareness and adherence."
Among the 20 accused individuals in the case are prominent names like Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Khalid Saifi, Isharat Jahan, Meeran Haider, Tahir Hussain, Gulfisha Fatima, Shifa Ur Rehman, Asif Iqbal Tanha, Safoora Zargar, and Natasha Narwal.
