The Delhi High Court has instructed the Delhi Government and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to investigate the feasibility of installing advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) facilities at three major interchange metro stations: Kashmere Gate, Rajiv Chowk and Hauz Khas.
The court's division bench of Justice Manmohan and Justice Saurabh Banerjee has ordered the authorities to submit a fresh status report on the matter before the next hearing on August 1. The directive came during a hearing of a suo motu matter that was initiated in 2018.
The government's counsel informed the bench that the government is in talks with the district authorities of Tis Hazari and Rouse Avenue Courts to install ACLS services in the court premises. However, the government has already provided three ACLS ambulances at the three major interchange metro stations.
Meanwhile, the DMRC's counsel stated that there is space available at the metro stations for the installation of ACLS services. The court has directed both the DMRC and GNCTD's counsel to investigate the possibility of installing ACLS facilities at the three major interchange metro stations immediately.
Last year, the bench had instructed the Delhi Government to ensure that ACLS facilities are installed in its premises and explore the possibility of either stationing ACLS ambulances in every district court or allowing the setting up of portable cabins for the same. The Delhi Metro was also directed to investigate the feasibility of setting up the facility at all major interchange stations.
