The BBC has challenged the jurisdiction of a Delhi court to handle the defamation case filed against it by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader over its documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BBC's counsel argued that they are a foreign entity and have not been served properly. The plaintiff's counsel, however, stated that he is ready to hand over the physical copy of the suit to the BBC in court. But the lawyer representing the broadcaster objected, citing the Hague Convention. The case has been adjourned until May 26 for arguments. The documentary, titled India: The Modi Question, has been banned by the Indian government, but is still available on Internet Archive. The plaintiff has sought an injunction against the BBC, Wikimedia, and Internet Archive to restrain them from publishing the documentary or any other material against the RSS and VHP.
