In a significant development, the Supreme Court Collegium has endorsed the elevation of Justice CS Sudha, presently serving as an additional judge at the Kerala High Court, to the esteemed position of a permanent judge.
Earlier, the Collegium of the Kerala High Court had presented a unanimous recommendation on June 21st, proposing Justice Sudha's appointment as a permanent judge. This suggestion garnered concurrence from both the Chief Minister and the Governor before being forwarded to the Supreme Court Collegium for consideration.
The resolution issued by the Supreme Court Collegium reveals a thorough evaluation process, involving consultations with judges from the apex court well-acquainted with the workings of the Kerala High Court. Deliberating on a comprehensive array of materials and facets, the Collegium arrived at the conclusion that Justice C S Sudha, who currently serves as an Additional Judge, is eminently qualified and fitting for the role of a permanent Judge.
Hence, in alignment with its assessment and in an affirmative stride, the Collegium has made a decisive recommendation for the formal appointment of Justice CS Sudha as a permanent judge within the esteemed realm of the Kerala High Court.
As of August 1, the operational strength of the Kerala High Court stands at 34 judges, a figure notably lower than the sanctioned capacity of 47 judges."
