Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, on Wednesday, marked a significant milestone by laying the foundation stone for the construction of a new High Court complex in Jammu's Raika area. In his address, Justice Chandrachud emphasized the pivotal role of judicial officers as frontline warriors and urged them to uphold the expectations of the common man seeking justice.

CJI Chandrachud expressed his commitment to ensuring access to justice for all sections of society, especially the poor and underprivileged. He hailed the establishment of the new High Court complex and the introduction of pioneering IT initiatives as crucial steps towards reforming the judicial delivery system.

During the event, the Chief Justice also launched a Document Management System (DMS) for the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, along with the National Service and Tracking of Electronic Process (N-STEP) for district courts in the two union territories. The esteemed presence of Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor BD Mishra, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Supreme Court Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Pankaj Mithal, and Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh N Kotiswar Singh further enhanced the significance of the event.

Union Minister Meghwal, participating through video conference, assured the Jammu & Kashmir government of ample financial support and a suitable budget for the development of judicial infrastructure.

As part of the launch, a comprehensive demonstration of the DMS functionality was showcased through a video presentation. Additionally, mobile phones equipped with the N-STEP application were distributed to process servers to symbolize the initiation of this innovative initiative.
