CJI DY Chandrachud Urges Legal Services Authorities to Embrace Social Media for Improved Beneficiary Outreach
In his inaugural address at the 19th All India Legal Services Authorities meet held in Srinagar, Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud called on legal services institutions to leverage the power of social media to effectively connect with beneficiaries. Recognizing the lack of awareness among citizens regarding free legal aid, the CJI stressed the need for proactive measures to bridge this gap. By harnessing social media platforms, legal services institutions can expand their reach and ensure accessibility to those in need. The CJI also emphasized the importance of enhancing communication within the judiciary and highlighted the role of social media in facilitating effective interaction. Furthermore, he emphasized the significance of competent legal aid, the empowerment of lawyers and paralegal volunteers, and the promotion of inclusivity in the legal profession. The event saw the release of a manual for District Legal Services Authorities, symbolizing the mainstreaming of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in India's development discourse. Distinguished attendees included Supreme Court judges, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, as well as Union Minister for Law and Justice and Lieutenant Governors of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
