The Calcutta High Court has dismissed the West Bengal government's review application against the previous order to transfer the probe in the school jobs for cash scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED). Justice Amrita Sinha, the single-judge who heard the case, stated that the review application is dismissed, and a detailed order can be found on the High Court website. The State had filed the plea challenging the order passed by Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, who was previously seized of the matter. However, after his interview with a Bengali news channel where he made statements against TMC's Abhishek Banerjee, the case was reassigned to Justice Sinha. The bench had reserved the order on May 8 after hearing the submissions of the Advocate General for the State government and the Deputy Solicitor General, who represented the CBI. The AG argued that Justice Gangopadhyay had no jurisdiction to pass orders on the given date, and thus the CBI probe order does not stand. The AG also argued that only the State can probe a crime that has taken place within the State as it is a question of law and order, and the concerned department wasn't available before the court.
