"Asaram Bapu's Plea Denied by Rajasthan High Court to Block Release of Manoj Bajpayee's 'Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai'"
In a recent development, the Rajasthan High Court has rejected the plea filed by self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu and Om Prakash Lakhani to halt the release of the film 'Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai', starring Manoj Bajpayee. Asaram Bapu, who is currently serving a jail sentence, alleged that the movie portrayed his life without his consent and portrayed him in a negative light. However, the court dismissed the application, stating that the petitioners failed to establish a prima facie case and that the film's trailer had no connection to Asaram Bapu. The court also emphasized that seeking compensation for damages and defamation would be an appropriate course of action if any violation of reputation and dignity occurred. The case will be heard again in the second week of July, with the Central government requested to provide a response on issues related to certification, breach of privacy, and the role of a lawyer in an ongoing case.
