Chaos ensued at the district and sessions court in Haridwar's Roshanabad area, Uttarakhand, after a wild elephant forcefully knocked down the gates and entered the premises on Wednesday, NDTV reported.
According to the report, the wild animal possibly came from the nearby Rajaji Tiger Reserve, and wandered through the district magistrate's office and the court premises.
People who saw the event unfold reportedly said that the elephant broke gates and even damaged a wall during its surprise visit.
After getting information about the elephant's presence, forest department officials are said to have quickly arrived at the spot.
They used tactics like firing shots in the air to scare the animal and guide it back towards the Rajaji Tiger Reserve, the report stated.
