Tamil Nadu Police Reports Return of Missing Volunteers from Isha Foundation's Yoga Centre

The Tamil Nadu police on Thursday submitted before the Madras High Court that five out of the six volunteers who had gone missing from the Isha Foundation's yoga centre have returned. According to the police, the volunteers who have returned stated that they had left the center due to personal reasons. The submissions were made in a habeas corpus petition filed by the brother of C. Ganesan, a volunteer at the yoga centre who has been missing since March 2023.According to the petitioner, his brother was working as a volunteer at the yoga centre. Then, on March 2 this year, he got a call from the center asking if his brother had returned home. It was only then that he realized something was wrong. The petitioner moved the high court by filing a habeas corpus petition since even after the registration of an FIR by the yoga centre’s administrator, his brother could not be found. Before the division bench of Justices M.S. Ramesh and Sunder Mohan, Additional Public Prosecutor E. Raj Thilak submitted on Thursday that earlier five more volunteers had been found missing from the Foundation yoga centre but now, most of them had come back, saying they left for personal reasons. While seeking some time, the APP assured the court that in the case at hand as well, the police will expedite the steps to trace C. Ganesan out and file a status report. After considering his statements and noticing the absence of the petitioner's counsel, the judges asked the high court registry to post the case on June 7.
