Supreme Court to Hear SLP Challenging YS Avinash Reddy's Bail in YS Vivekananda Reddy Murder Case on June 13
A Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by Sunitha Reddy, the daughter of YS Vivekananda Reddy, against the anticipatory bail granted to YS Avinash Reddy in the murder case will be heard by the Supreme Court on June 13. The Telangana High Court had previously granted anticipatory bail to Avinash Reddy, the Kadapa MP, stating that there was no direct evidence linking him to a larger conspiracy. However, the SLP argues that Avinash Reddy showed "clear non-cooperation" by not appearing before the CBI and obstructing his arrest. It further alleges that Avinash Reddy, along with other accused and influential individuals, influenced the investigation and intimidated witnesses. The SLP contends that the High Court's order is factually incorrect and could greatly prejudice the ongoing investigation. YS Vivekananda Reddy, a member of the Indian National Congress and brother of the late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, was found murdered at his residence in Kadapa district in 2019. The case was subsequently transferred to the CBI for investigation.
