The Supreme Court recently dismissed the curative petition filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia against an apex court order denying him bail in the money laundering case connected to the Delhi Excise Policy scam.A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai and SVN Bhatti declined an open court hearing and held that no grounds of review were made out."We have gone through the curative petitions and the connected documents. In our opinion, no case is made out within the parameters indicated in the decision of this Court in Rupa Ashok Hurra vs Ashok Hurra. The curative petitions are dismissed," the Court said.A curative petition is the last judicial remedy available in a case before the Supreme Court. It is a remedy established by the Supreme Court through its judgment in Rupa Asok Hurra v Ashok Hurra and is decided by the judges in-chamber.The Supreme Court had on October 30 denied bail to Sisodia."In the analysis there are certain aspects which are doubtful.. regarding transfer of ₹338 crore transfer is established. We have rejected the bail," the apex court had then said. His review petition against the same was dismissed on December 14 after he which he filed the curative petition.Sisodia has been in jail since February 26, 2023. He is being probed by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).The scam involves allegations that Delhi government officials had connived to grant liquor licenses to certain traders in exchange for bribes. The accused officials are alleged to have tweaked the excise policy to benefit certain liquor sellers.The Delhi High Court had earlier denied bail to Sisodia in the cases against him by the two central agencies, prompting the AAP leader to move the Supreme Court for relief.
