The Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association on Monday requested the High Court to not pass any adverse orders in case of non-appearance of lawyers on February 13 on account of the planned march of farmers to Delhi.The Bar Association in a letter to the Acting Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia requested the High Court to provide video conference links for hearing of cases during the agitation of farmers."We on behalf of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association would like to bring to your goodself kind notice that due to ongoing agitation by farmers of Punjab and Haryana the roads have been blocked by the farmers. We have received many calls from the Members of the Bar regarding their inability to reach the Court today," the Bar Association Honorary Secretary Swarn Singh Tiwana said in the letter.Currently, only six courtrooms in the High Court provide the facility to attends cases via video conference.The farmers on Tuesday plan to march to Delhi on Tuesday to protest for their various demands including enactment of a law to guarantee a minimum support price (MSP) for crops.In various parts of Haryana, orders under Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) have been passed to restrict gathering or movement of farmers. The Haryana-Punjab border has been sealed from the Ambala side.The government has also decided to suspend internet services in seven districts.
A petition challenging the border closure and internet suspension has also been moved before the High Court and is slated to be heard tomorrow.
