The Madras High Court has issued a notification directing all district courts across Tamil Nadu to mandatorily conduct hybrid hearing of cases before them beginning Monday, February 5.This means that litigants and counsels can appear either virtually through video-conferencing, or, physically for court proceedings, depending on their convenience.“The members of the Bar and the litigants appearing as party-in-person are advised to utilize the facility of hybrid hearing of their cases to the best extent possible. The members of the Bar are also requested to make use of the facility in all jurisdictions. All concerned are requested to co-operate for the effective implementation of the above arrangement in this regard,” the notification reads.The notification issued by the Madras High Court Registrar General M Jothiraman adds that such directions on mandatory hybrid hearings have been issued by the Court following Chief Justice SV Gangapurwala’s approval.It also urges all counsels and parties to make use of the virtual hearing option.
