A petition in Kerala High Court claims recounting vote arbitrariness in Sree Keralavarma College Union Chairman election
Sreekuttan, a third-year B.A. Political Science student with special abilities, was initially declared College Union Chairman. He represented KSU, affiliated with the Indian National Congress. The petitioner claimed to win by a single vote, a historic first for KSU in 41 years at the college.
In a surprising twist, the Returning Officer conducted a recount of votes on the same day, following requests from the opposing faction.
Upon recounting, the candidate from the opposing faction was declared Chairman with a 10-vote margin.
Sreekuttan alleges that the College Principal initially opposed the recounting, and he further asserts that the Principal informed the media that the recounting only resumed due to the intervention of the Cochin Devaswom Commissioner.
The petitioner contends that external factors influenced the election results and argues that the votes invalidated during the initial count could not have been valid during the recount.
Sreekuttan is therefore requesting an investigation into alleged election malpractice, tampering, and sabotage, as well as a new election for the College Union Chairman position
