The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of Jharkhand High Court judge Justice Shree Chandrashekhar to Rajasthan High Court.The decision was taken at a meeting of the Collegium held on December 29 after Justice Shree Chandrashekhar himself requested for a transfer.
"By a communication dated December 29, 2023, Mr. Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, senior-most Judge of the High Court of Jharkhand has requested for his transfer from the High Court of Jharkhand. Acceding to his request, the Collegium resolves to recommend that Mr Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, be transferred to the Rajasthan High Court," the resolution passed by the Collegium said.
Justice Chandrashekhar was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court with effect from December 29 after incumbent Chief Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra demitted office. Notably, Justice Chandrashekhar sought his transfer on the same day.
Prior to that on December 27, the Collegium had recommended that Orissa High Court judge Justice BR Sarangi be appointed the permanent Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
