The Supreme Court on Monday rapped a lawyer who out of turn made an out of turn mentioning about listing of a case related to reforms in judiciary.The bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra warned lawyer that the Court will impose costs.“Ye koi platform nahi hai ki bas chadd gaye jo bhi train aa gayi (This is not a railway platform that you hop on any train that arrives),” CJI Chandrachud told the lawyer.When the lawyer mentioned the plea, the Court at the outset sought to know whether it was on board before the bench in today's list. How can you mention like this at 12 PM,” the Court probed further.The lawyer said that he was not against the judiciary. However, the CJI Chandrachud cut the lawyer short saying that was not the point.
“How can you mention like this? Do you practice in the Supreme Court? You just stand up and mention! We will impose costs and payable to SCBA [Supreme Court Bar Association],” the Court remarked.The lawyer said he practices befire Delhi High Court.“So in Delhi High Court, do you just stand up and mention a plea,” the bench demanded.The Court ultimately asked the lawyer to discuss with a senior lawyer on how the mentioning of cases is done before the top court.
