They will serve for a two-year term, based on seniority, starting when they assume their roles.
On October 17, the Supreme Court Collegium put forth its recommendations for the appointment of Judges to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Collegium's recommendation included Justice Sumeet Goel, Justice Sudeepti Sharma, and Justice Kirti Singh.
For Justice Sumeet Goel, the Collegium noted that two out of the three consultee-Judges unanimously supported his suitability for the role as a Judge of the High Court. The third consultee-Judge did not express an opinion. Additionally, the Department of Justice's inputs included in the file indicated that Justice Sumeet Goel held a commendable personal and professional reputation, with no adverse information regarding his integrity.
The Collegium's assessment of Justices Sudeepti Sharma and Kirti Singh was similar. It was mentioned that the inputs provided by the Department of Justice in the file portrayed them both in a positive light, emphasizing their good personal standing and the absence of any integrity concerns.
The recommendations underscored the integrity and suitability of these three individuals to serve as Judges in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. These endorsements from the Collegium, as well as the Department of Justice's positive assessments, played a crucial role in their eventual appointment as Additional Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court for a two-year term. Their appointments were effective from the date they assumed their respective positions.
