"CBI Arrests EPFO Officer in Tirunelveli for Allegedly Accepting Bribe"

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has today arrested an accused Enforcement Officer, EPFO, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu while accepting bribe amount of Rs. 2 lakh from the complainant.

CBI has registered a case on complaint against the said Enforcement Officer, EPFO, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu on allegations that accused demanded bribe of Rs. 15 lakh from complainant who is running a software company at Tirunelveli. It was also alleged that accused demanded the said bribe for not taking action against the company which availed the Central Government ABRY scheme i.e. Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana (a scheme to boost creations of new jobs in formal sector through support of EPF contributions by the Central Government for new employees).

It has been further alleged that the accused officer collected and verified the documents from the complainant Company and learnt that the company has received an amount of Rs. 3 crore(approx) under  Central Government ABRY scheme. Out of the said amount he allegedly demanded 5% as bribe from the complainant.CBI laid a trap and caught the said accused EPFO officer red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 2 lakh as an advance.The Proposed Combination relates to an acquisition of up to 8.79% (approx.) of the equity share capital of Pricol by Minda.The Acquirer is engaged in the business of manufacturing of auto - components parts and caters to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-1 in various segments in India.The Target is engaged in the business of manufacturing of automobile components for OEMs, Tier-1 and replacement markets across India and globally.Detailed order of the Commission will follow.
